A Night With Imaginese

Spent the evening with Shivering Snivels’ partners,

Imaginese!

So I’ve been developing Shivering Snivels in many ways, one of which was through workshops hosted by the philanthropic production company, Imaginese.  While most members pay dues, I worked out an arrangement with them for a membership in exchange for event photography! These amazing and inspiring artists devote their time to teaching and mentoring public school students in the Los Angles, when they are not developing their own impressive productions.

This week they hosted a filmmaker’s Expo where they previewed their writers humorous and poignant work for industry artists. A night filled with laughter and great constructive critiques!

And it was my pleasure to photograph the fun-filled event.

My (Not So) Secret NatGeo Habit

So beside the degree in filmmaking I’m about to receive, and the children’s book I’m publishing in Fall 2016, I have a (not so) secret dream of working for National Geographic.

Out of all my artistic pursuits, I consider this closest to my “Hobby”

There is no pressure to build a sustainable career, or brand. Maybe one day I’ll be paid by researchers or non-profit organizations, but so long as I have a camera I will continue to study and “capture” this amazing planet.

Sadly, having a camera is not always assured, lol.  So, the whole idea is a work in progress.

But, even a working artist needs to find a hobby that relaxes them, that gives them the sense of accomplishment — without the stress of achievement…

…And a chance to be a little cheeky!

For All The Original JMP Photography Fans Out There!

As you can tell by the URL, I started this blog back when I was a photographer. And while I have been lately focused with more literal narratives, I will always love to take pictures. Thanks to the Shivering Snivels campaign and my Shadow Backers, I was able to invest in a smart phone recently (finally!).

Spend Your Summer Weekend Reading With The Jolley-Rogers!

The Pirates Next Door Starring the Jolley-Rogers

The Pirates Next Door

Came across this fun-filled tale while spending my summer days in the children’s section of my local library. This energetic tale about accepting people’s differences will bring a breath of fresh air to your reading time this weekend.

The Crew

Meet the Jolley-Rogers – a pirate family who is moving to Dull-on-Sea, a quiet seaside town, while they fix up their ship. This unusual family soon has the whole neighborhood gossiping. Defying the grown-ups, Matilda becomes friends with young pirate Jim Lad.

Page from Pirates

When the Jolley-Rogers return to sea, the town realizes that they were wrong to assume the worst when it is discovered that the pirates have buried treasure in everyone’s yard. The neighbors are thrilled, but Matilda is sad to have lost her new friend, until she discovers her own treasure — a pen pal!

See Jonny Duddle’s website for tons of Pirate fun!

Find the book on GoodReads and Amazon.
